The ichthys or ichthus, from the Greek ikhth\u016b\u0301s (\u1f30\u03c7\u03b8\u03cd\u03c2) is a symbol that resembles a fish, it is now known colloquially as the “sign of the fish” or the “Jesus fish”, which was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol. The early Christians were persecuted and regarded as a threat to the emperors, they had to keep their beliefs hidden from the government, they used the fish to identify each other.<\/p>\n
